Lovely summer evening in late June, special location for a beer festival. Safaripark the Beekse Bergen, in the south of the Netherlands. On six, seven different squares brewers and food trucks. 200 beers, 50 brewers from home and abroad. Lots of the Netherlands and Belgium, but also Iceland and Norway. More special beer than real craft beers. Big family brewery from the south with (almost) all brands present.
The atmosphere is relaxed. Music everywhere, live and by DJs. Laughter, fun, rocking and dancing. Let's be happy, it's allowed, and happier as the evening progresses. More beer gardens than animal gardens. Most of the animals are snug inside, away from the noise. Only the elephants amuse themselves with the colourful revelry. An occasional big cat raises its head slightly.
The price of a full day's zoo but with seven beers and a special glass. Small contribution for Save the Elephants' Northern Corridors Project in the north of Kenya. Cheers on protecting their migration routes from advancing humans. In exchange for a few nights of fine beer feasting among the animals, outside and inside.
