Brewery het Veem

Beers with the character of Strijp-S

Strijp-S, a former industrial area where Philips invented and produced electronic devices for almost eighty years. From glass lamp to radio and television, literally from sand to customer. Home of the famous NatLab. Industrial heritage and modern architecture. Iconic Klokgebouw building and a residential tower as a vertical forest. Trendy neighbourhood for students and startups. Covered skate park at Ketelplein.

At the head of the wide Torenallee brewery the Veem. Housed in the Vershal with the same name, once storing televisions and radios. Tasting room, brewery and beer shop under the same roof. 24 taps along a 15-metre bar. Numerous beers in bottle. Nice terrace on the avenue in summer. Glistening brew kettles in a warm industrial room. The smell of mashing, wort, wheat and hops during brewing. And hundreds of beers on the shop shelf for those who want to continue enjoying them at home.

Brewers who like hearty beers and unity in labels. A small selection. Hop Creator IPA, a 6.7% light blonde with hefty bitterness and hoppy aftertaste. Sorghum heavy blonde at 7.5%, brewed from gluten-free sorghum grain from the region, full of carbohydrates, proteins and minerals. Techno Tripel as an ode to the city's innovations, classic tripel, full-bodied, spicy and an alcohol content of 8%. And one step higher still, Koekwaush, dialect for idiot or, just a little friendlier, weirdo. As a beer, a spicy 10.5% quadruple with speculoos and apple syrup, ideal winter beer.

Walk from Strijp-S train station between the Gloeilampenplatsoen and the Klokgebouw and under the viaduct to the head of Torenallee, 5 minutes, brewery het Veem right around the corner.
